Did I open the gate to the realm of demons?

Demons and angels are a figment of man’s imagination.
We heal because our bodies heal.
I had the same shoulder and back condition as someone who chooses surgery.
I refuse surgery and make a full recovery.
Their surgery leads to failure and more surgeries.
I could sit back and claim I healed because Zach from Ghost Adventures visited me, but I would be lying.
I healed because my body is amazing.
Thats not to say adept sport surgeons aren’t worth their weight in gold, but it is to say supernatural is not involved.

The mediator between a make believe god and the JW worshipers is the governing body of JWs in its present form.
They tell you how to behave, what you can study, what you should think about and how you should react to everything. It’s all in print, or online, or from the mouth of a CO or overachieving elder.
Jesus and the Revelation according to John is irrelevant.

It baffles me why they would even say this
by Tameria2001 inback in 2001, i left the jws rather abruptly.
i had discovered things about the watchtower that really made me quite angry, angry because i had been lied to, and it took me just to darn long to figure it out.
before i had left, my husband and i wrote 3 letters, one to the elders at our congregation, and two to our parents.

In my mid twenties, a girl I had gone to high school with contacted me and asked me if I would study with her because she wanted to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was raised in a Presbyterian family and we had discussed religion just a handful of times in school. We were not particularly close. Acquaintances more than friendly.
At first I thought it was a joke. She was serious. Then I struggled with myself. I didn’t really want to hassle with a “ bible study” and I felt guilty because, after all, isn’t that the end all be all of existence as a JW?
I even tried to push her off onto other sisters. While I had pioneered in my teens, I was happy at this point in my life to put in my 2 or 3 hours a month, which was bullshit but it kept the secretary and my conductor off my ass. My Asshole(now ex-husband) was not an issue. He never went to meetings and lied on his service report as well.
Long story short, I ended up doing the study. After the 5th or 6th study, she asked me, “What if you discovered that everything you have been taught is a lie?” (I thought she was projecting her own experience)
I responded, “I don’t think that is possible, but if it did happen, I would be grateful for the life I have led because of my religion.”
Which is a complete lie because I despised so much about things I missed out on because of the religion. I thought my answer to her was a way to make her believe it was great and following through to baptism would be in the pursuit of a better and happier life.
Because of the questions raised in that study I couldn’t answer, my own research culminated in me starting my fade right before age 30.
My study went on to get baptized. I felt tremendous guilt for lying to her.
8 years after my fade I received a phone call out of the blue. It was her. She also left the JW religion and had no idea I had as well. She found out through the grapevine and contacted me.
We talk every week. I apologized to her. To my surprise she apologized to me. The Bible study was a ruse to get baptized and marry a JW boy of which I never had a clue.
He turned out to be a complete piece of shit so it’s another experience her and I bond over. Lmao!
We say stupid shit to people because we want our word to assert an agenda. Even if we don’t believe the words we say in retrospect.
The similar phrases from the opening post are probably just that. So don’t lose hope. People find the path out of WT even when they have recited the party lines for years.

Serious Issue ....... that MUST be Addressed !!!!!
by Simon inthis is such an important issue, more and more people are succumbing to what must be some viral outbreak wreaking havoc in the world.. i'm talking about unnecessary punctuation.. it's easy to become infected.
you want to write something and add some emphasis so you add an exclamation mark to make it "important!
" but dang, it's not important enough is it??

This is interesting:
In the United States, periods and commas go inside quotation marks regardless of logic. Click HERE for an explanation (sort of).
In the United Kingdom, Canada, and islands under the influence of British education, punctuation around quotation marks is more apt to follow logic. In American style, then, you would write: My favorite poem is Robert Frost's "Design." But in England you would write: My favorite poem is Robert Frost's "Design". The placement of marks other than periods and commas follows the logic that quotation marks should accompany (be right next to) the text being quoted or set apart as a title. Thus, you would write (on either side of the Atlantic):
- What do you think of Robert Frost's "Design"? and
- I love "Design"; however, my favorite poem was written by Emily Dickinson.

Regional JW "Culture" - Did you experience any differences that surprised you?
by Diogenesister inso this particular comment on another topic got me thinking about "regional" jw cultures.
things that were acceptable in one area you lived in, that were absolutely verboten in the jw hall/circuit you perhaps grew up in etc.
never met jws that cared if people played chess, and i knew a number of people who did play chess.

Elders' Gems of Wisdom

The one about sister Payne in the rear reminded me of a similar one.
The WT conductor called on a Sister Bush. Realizing his mistake he said, “I’m sorry, It’s Sister Birch,” and then, “I knew it was some type of shrub.”
The school overseer was giving a Sunday talk on marriage. At one point he said, “brothers, if you want to be truly happy, marry an ugly woman.”
All at once the entire audience turned to look at his wife who was quite homely.
Sad.
Another marriage talk, “sisters, it is your spiritual obligation to render that due morning, noon and night!”

One young married sister kept having affairs. After the third one she was caught on video tape and disfellowshipped. She divorced and spent 3 years trying before getting reinstated even though she knew TTATT. She wanted her family and friends back and to secure her inheritance. But actually it was just the inheritance. Once she got that it was a slow fade and out of reach. Married a younger “worldly” man who was always known by the community to be gay.
I’ve heard similar stories, primarily coming back for family and then doing a proper fade.
